Will a ST184 handling pack (bushings & swaybars) fit an ST182? Tue, 14 December 2004 08:09 Go to next message
Hey guys,

I'm interested in this package for my ST182 convertible:

http://www.185performance.com/cgi-bin/185p/BKST184 C.html

But unsure it'll fit, since the chassiscode says it's an ST182, and this pack is for the ST184. We never got the ST184 in The Netherlands, so does anyone on this board know if the bushings and swaybars will fit?

I'm certain they would be the same, as far as I know the only difference between the two is the engine.

The ST182 is the 5th gen Celica with the 2.0L 3SGE motor (2nd gen), while the Australian-delivered ST184 had the 2.2L 5SFE instead. They are both S series engines so even the engine mounts will be the same. Suspension should be identical between the two, but of course any Australian suspension catalogue will list ST184 since that's what was delivered and sold here.

Similar situation with the 6th gen Celica too, ST202 had the 3rd gen 3SGE, Aus-delivered ST204 had 5SFE again.

Hope that helps,
Matt

It would be a fairly safe bet to say that the rear swaybar and the bushings would be the same... it would be the front swaybar that would be different if anything.

Yes the sway bar from a ST184 should fit the ST182.... i got a whiteline sway bar in my ST184 front and rear, you can notice the difference straight up... jus be careful when tighten the rear mounts up, they hav a stud that comes out of the body, if they break you cant replace, i also got a front one, its sooo thick...and makes the car handle great....jus my 2c worth!
