Hey guys,
I am not sure if it is me or not but have heard a handful of people saying the government or someone similar is cutting out leaded petrol. I dont know the validity of this however some of the stations i use to go dont sell this petrol anymore or all the ones that sell them have out of order on them.
In my opinion I dont think anyone can get rid of this type of petrol but anyone having this problem like me or have any insight onto whats happening? Also Im seeing the same thing with optimax at shell.
Thanks fellows

err not the gov there is no lead in petrol anyway anymore, I think you are referring to the oil refineriesw no lo=nger wanting to produce lrp as it costs them more than it is worth. Anyway went to the servo the other week and since I put air in my tires at woolworths thought i better buy petty there to, I won't buy vortex so thoguht hmmm where did that red handled lrp pump go. They have gotten rid of them. So off I went fuck em and went Bp to get my fill of ultimate. They stock lrp at the bp but ultimate is better and I don't need lrp just the octane rating. Lately i have been returning great fuel eco on ultimate around 12-13l per 100km, but this week is is already past half and have only done 170km, I may have driven the car a bit harder but not much and with the wet i have been pretty slow cos my cars not fun in the wet unless you wanna be a tool, so I would be actually changing earlier.

and corona is right ... a lot of servo's are dropping LRP - which was the replacement for 'leaded' fuel introduced years ago- due to reduced demand.

Most old jap cars have hardend valve seats anyway so you would not need to use lead in your petrol just make sure that you use a petrol with a decent octane level to stop your car detonating. I dont recall the year but i heard from many sources that japs aint used leaded petrol since the 70s its only shit australian cars that require it.

Do you know whether 2T engines have the hardend valve seats?

2T won't? does it have an alloy head? all toyota alloy heads have valve seats suitable for unleaded. don't they?
lead has been replaced by manganese compounds (according to shell), which have a near lead effect on valve seats and cat convertors and O2 sensors
