Thanks

All of the 'Yamaha' heads end with a #8826x, and have a two bolt face plate on the front with "Yamaha", as opposed to the eight box alloy face plate with nothing and #8822x. The general rule is the later the head, the bigger the valves but shorter the cams.
is there anything 'special' about these heads, like modified cams, bigger valves, ported etc..? if so i could be interested.

Rob,
The 11111-88220 Head has the small valves. All heads after 88222, 88260 and 88261 have the same size valves. I am unsure of the valve sizes in the 88262 (Unnumbered) Head. The 22860 and 22261 had increased webbing for a slightly stronger head and were typically EFI heads. The 88220 was only ever carby and the 88222 head was mostly carby fed.
Cam sizes did vary I haven not the exact figures for all cams. I havethe 88220 and 88222 specs somewhere.
Eggman,
Yamaha made ALL the 2TG heads. If they are 8826x Heads I'll give you $300 for the lot if you are in Sydney and the heads are in usable condition !

rod,
yep thats the long version of what i was trying to say u sure about the #222 not having reinforced head webbing? that's the impression i was under until i looked at-
http://www.tassie.net.au/~jar/2tg-info.html
I wouldn't really care but that's the model i have in my ta22 atm.
i'm interested in the specs on the cams if you could find them.
cheers

I'll have a look tonight pretty sure there is a 88222 head there !
I only have the cam specs for the 88220 and 88222 cams as fitted to the GT TA22.
Thay are listed in the Tech section of the Toymods Web site in the TA22 Article I wrote.

ah I tend to disagree
my 2tg head is a 88220 and I was planing to put bigger valves in but there is no room for them
my inlet valve is about the size of a 50cent peice.
anyway my head has big valves,

Benny,
Mate the 88220 Head has smaller valves ! No question !
88220 has 43mm inlet and 37mm Exhaust !
88222 on has 44.5 mm inlet and 38.5mm Exhaust.
Eggman,
Let me know re my offer ?

amazing what 1.5cms does to performance!!
hey rod, u seem to know a bit about the #262 2TG head, is there any chance the elliptic ignition chamber in the head could be machined circular so that a non-off centre piston can be used (eg 3T flycut piston)?
cheers

Rob,
Mate I am yet to get my hands on a 262 head. (anyone ???) I want to play with one a bit first to make sure but if you used a flat top piston you should be able to use that head.
If you want a High compression piston you will have clearance issues with the combustion chamber.
The stock 3TGTEU pistons would foul on the Chamber as far as I can guess without getting my hands on one.

Oh as for machining out the combustion chamber ! It could be done but it would be cheaper to buy a non emmision head like a 88261 or similar. Do you have an 88262 head ?
