What's the go with fireworks ???
|

Me and some mates are heading up to canberra and we want to go buy some fireworks(and porn). But we are unsure if we should try and hide them when we get on the boat (spirit).
If we have to hide them it means we can't get as much as we would like to.
And it being my car and me having a criminal record means that i would most likly either go to jail or get fucked over.
so if anybody knows anything about those kind of restrictions it would be great if u could add your input.
Thanks mooks

In NSW I think there is only a fine attached, ie it is not a criminal offence to have them. Can't comment on Vic or Tas, or really confrim the NSW thing.
My mate said they they normally open the boot of the car to check for food/fruit, but he has never had them open a bag...

I don't know if they're still selling them in canberra. You want to go Fishwick anyway to get the good firewarks, not canberra.
They changed the laws recently (a few months ago), so I don't know how that has effected the firework trade up there. Luckily I got a massive box of them before they changed the laws

HOLY CRAP!!!!!
Well let me put it this way - we FILLED the entire boot of a car for $150.
For $1000 you would need a friggin truck! If your budget really is that good, it means you can get some of the hardcore fireworks.
There are two hardcore fireworks you absolutely must get and let off at least once in your life. They're about $80 each, but they are SO worth it. The first one is called a "Thundering King". Ask around for it, or at least an equivelant firework. The second one you MUST let off is a "Rumbling Thunder". Be warned - these are both on par with the sort of thing they let off in sydney harbour at new years eve. They are HARDCORE! And really, really unbelievable to watch go off at ground zero

Fyshwick is a suburb of Canberra, so both of you are correct!

I'll print this thread out before i go.
i figured spend up big cuz it will be a VERY long time before i get a chance to get back there.
Plus i want my new car to make an entrance.
We won't have heaps of space so we will be chuck them in every little nook and cranny we can find.

My experience:
I was in Canberra in January this year and picked up some. So if the laws have changed since then you can ignore this.
They will take a photocopy of your license at the place you purchase the fireworks from. No license, no purchase. There was also a form we had to fill in and sign.
It also states specifically in the terms of the ferry that you are not to take flammable or explosive items in your car. They now do a bonnet/boot check for gas bottles and presumably other explosive items. If I were you I'd hide them as well as you could (like under seats). Also be prepared for the shit to hit the fan if they find them.
just my .02
Cheers,
Dan

i was under the impression that fireworks were now illegal except for one long w/e and that you could only buy them then if you were an ACT resident
when i was coming back from the snow this year we found that a place that we bought fireworks from last year had turned into a porno store

Oh yeah, be careful where you stick them in your car...my mate had some on the dash and one detonated - not a good result. Fortunately the chain reaction didn't start...but might not be worth the risk tho

I'm not entirely sure but I think you need a licence to have/buy fireworks.

We are getting the ferry from sydney so maybe i could.
I'm not about to hide them under my bonnet i'll just chuck em in a suitcase or something like that, or maybe fill the pockets of the clothes im not wearing with them.
I'm the king of hiding things i should be pretty safe i recon.
i have a friend who lives over there if they don't sell them to us the should sell them to her i recon.
