this belongs in tech and conversions. or you can go to www.club4ag.com and read their tech referance.
anyway. usually an ae86 coilover is made from a modified stock strut leg. and using an insert from an ae92 (front) or sw20 mr2 (front or rear). the housing is also shortended, a section cut out below the internal threads then the top piece is welded back on, typically around 30mm. a spacer will be required also (inside the strut leg under the insert).
then the stock spring perch is cut off and a threaded coilover sleeve fitted, usually welded on.
