i think my sensor has corrupted it seems to break down a little and run a bit rough at a certain position where you would normally sit at cruise speed.
but touch the accelerator a fraction and we are off and as smooth as,or if i race though my changes and sit on 130 i am laughing not...
anyhoo does that sound right? and does anyone have a sparey or tell us where i can get one

what model of 1G? some have TPS with rather complex switch arrangement inside , others use a simple variable resistor with an idle (or is it WOT) switch.
either could be dirty/injfected with oil, moisture, corrosion - or actually damaged, in which case it's good to know which you need.
dont ask me which one is what version fo engine tho... 'cause i dont know.

Nope, not the TPS...
Sounds more like a dead EGO sensor or bad EGO sensor wiring connections.

EGO = O2 sensor - thing attached to cast housing that joins the two turbo exits.
analyses O2 content of combustion gases.

i've got the exact same problem with mine. I'd be doing 60 or so, with my foot staying still and then it would start to drop off. I put my foot down a bit and it goes back to normal.
It's driving me nuts

So what's the best way to 'clean' the AFM ? Would i need to 'reset' the springs ? It's alredy been 'tampered' with when i got the half cut from Japan.
Cheers

Well i really dont have a problem with the afm sticking, only did it once on me. I just pulled the top cover of and freeded the needle and it aint done it since. THough i dont know if this would fix it. If your afm has been tampered with it aint a good sign, chances are that your spring might be to tight or loose and your mixtures are up to shit. Can you describe exactly wats happening when your car looses power, What does the car motor actually do, cut out ect?

Nothing serious yet,Engine was Mod earlier...so AFM was adjusted to compensate. Will have to adjust spring again..to see if the mixture is right.
cheers

Well i pulled my 02 sensor out and cleaned it the best i could ,the car drove instantly better but still has a milder case of prob before so i might replace 02 sensor and go from there.
Where can i get one and how much?

Right, was not o2 sensor replaced TPS[finaly a common part cheap as chips]ran again much better smoother so maybe cured?
Are the any tips on how to put one in,i scored a line from the throttle body on to the plastic of the rooted one so i could put it back in at the right spot but what about the new one.
if anyone can help
ps the TPS came out of a 89-92 corolla
