Lite ace diff strength?? Sat, 18 December 2004 06:24 Go to next message
hey all.
just wondering if the lite ace diff is the same series and strength as a hilux and hiace diff?
some specs would be nice too e.g. how many spline axles etc.
thanks

i don't know for a fact but i'd assume they are not the same strength cuz they were behind a 1.3 litre motor and could carry as much weight.

From memory the Liteace has the E series diff. The E series is 7.1", ie much smaller than the 8" Hilux/Hiace diff.

I know a few guys running them in race cars (fors escorts) and they love them. They seem to take a fair bit of abuse, but the cars a only 900kg's. Depends on your application really. What car/engine/application is it going into?

The main issue is that you can't source an E series LSD for them (which is why you'll get people telling you to go to an F or G series). If you're happy with a CIG locker then you're set.

E series diffs can also be found in the MX32 and 62 Cressidas and the way early Corona Mk2 (MX10/22).

The Liteace diff is an E series. The axles are a lot smaller than the F and G series diffs.

If you weld up the centre, expect a broken axle or two.

If your looking at it for an upgrade, don't waste your money.

The Tarago with the 4YFE 2.2 litre engine,( sometimes called anRV) has an F series diff. Just checked the data plate on one, and it is an "F". The track with standard Tarago rims was 1370mm.

This may be an option for some people, as it has the coil spring platforms, and the upper and lower control arm brackets already installed. I do not know about their positioning in relation to Celica's /Corona's Supra's etc.

regards Chuck.
