motor not starting

quick question, ok problem with my bro's car the start motor will turn over, but not start, what would be your first thought of the problem?? cheers, it's a bmw by the way i know its not a toyota, but i figure majority of cars would have similar probs.

well
what do you need to make a fire? fuel, spark and air
so check that its getting those
if not it could be timing or ecu
im not a mind reader

ok so far all i know is that it ain't the battery cause thats still working, the ignition coils were replaced a month ago, so don't think its the spark/igntion, but he managed to get it going for abit but having to keep the rev's up so it doesn't stall.

don't worry now, found the possible problem, its the fuel system, its probably a bad fuel pump/filter or the injectors.
