what 80's models use vacuum-controlled water tap for the heater?

hi folks,
i have an MA61 with non-functioning heater.
I've discovered that the valve that controls the hot water supply to the internal heater is stuffed.
So does anyone know what other models (apart from ma61 supra) use this kind of tap?
The water side isn't leaking, the vacuum thing leaks. When you suck on the tube feeding it, you can hear it hiss an the valve remains shut..
The tap lives on the firewall of the MA61.
the TSRM has this lonely pic of it:

The Mk3 (MA70) appears to not have this valve - or at least i cannot find (in the TSRM) how it controls water to its internal heater. I cannot remember if the lowly MZ that i saw at the wreckers had same kind of valve.
cheers and tia,
Charles

Hi Charles, the MZ Soarer's have the same type of pneumatic operated heater tap.
If you can not locate one locally, I have one left over from a halfcut of 3 years ago.
regards Chuck.

Current model falcon's use one.
You can get one that you can reverse depending on the application.
I used one in my crown, was $14 or so, had to reverse it and now it works fine. Its plastic so will nevr rust etc.
Got it from toongabie spares and they sell alot and should know what im talking about.
Also they a fully black in color, as there are other falcon ones which are metal. Make sure you use the plastic
(what i mean by reverse able is that you can change wether vacum turns the heater on or off)
hope this helps

Can you pull it apart and replace whatever is leaking?
If its only vacuum leaking it could be an easy fix.
Any car with climate control will use one.

the top unit (looks like the vacuum canister attached to a mechanical dizzi) leaks - when you suck on the vacuum line, there's no restriction and you can clearly here air sucking in.
that part is sealed and my hit rate for repairing water taps (mechanical one in RA40) is three strikes so far.
fwiw, it might explains why the car's been running roung and using lots of fuel whenever the aircon was set to a temp above 20 degrees (valve opened up and lots of extra air gets fed into manifold).
at moment, the down side of this is that aircon-on = 20 degrees or lower inside the car, regardless of outside temps - when it rains, i can make ice on the windscreen
but thanks all for the suggestions - i think i'll be xmas shopping at ABC wreckers when my holidays start
chuck: thanks for the offer - i'll PM you if i have no luck.
cheers and tta, charles.

I'm not sure if he is or not, but in the event that Norbie is parting out his blue Supra, he will have one for sale, and in QLD
