4age 100kw - Cold Starting Mon, 20 December 2004 07:41 Go to next message
Hi,

I just have a quick question regarding my 4age (100kw Jap Spec).
The engine was only recently installed and only had around
80,000kms on it. I am just having some problems when starting
in the mornings. It takes a few turns before it starts and then puffs a bit of smoke (doesnt smell like oil, more like coolant or something). Its also runnig a K&N filter with many of hoses from the old air box blocked off, synthetic oil, BP Ultimate etc. So yeh, if anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Hey

I believe that the cold start is working, but i will replace and see what happens.

Also, i have been looking everywhere for diagrams of where all the intake hoses are meant to go, but i cant find any. So, im thinking that this could be the problem.

Anyone know where i could get diagrams?

Cheers

two heater hoses need to go to the throttle body, if you dont have these plugged in the thing wont get off cold idle ie 2000rpm. there should be two vacuum hoses on top of the throttle body, one goes to the A/C so im told i have it blocked and the other one goes to the charcoal canister
i then have only the air intake temp sensor plugged into my intake pipe and this is working fine on my car.

there are 3 other pipes on the throttle body on the firewall side and i have these blocked off as well
