My 7MGTE seems to take a long time to warm up. I can usually drive 5km before its at operating temperature (90C) and thats not continous driving either, stop start etc. I have a 82C hi flow thermostat installed. Why does it take so long? Any idea's???

It could be that your thermostat is too cold for the guage.

Has your dad 7M got the proper thermostat (I believe the 7M should have the 92degC, but I will stand corrected on that)

88Deg C is the factory installed item.
Is it a new thermostat?

Brand spanking new thermostat... But even below the opening of the thermostate my dads warms up twice if not more quicker. There has to be a simple reason?

You've checked & compared the timing of both motors?
From memory in my old supra when it had a 7m it used to take around 5 minutes to get up to temp.
