anyone tried this conversion?
Im thinking of doing it as it seems like an excellent system with heaps of aftermarket support....unlike the ecu on my 4age bigport which you cant do a damn thing with.

plenty of possibilities with the delco ECU - 1227808 - all you need is a good kalmaker workshop - amberley auto in dandenong or tim sheather up north epping i think? they can write a map for you. simply put get a JE camira dizzy graft the guts into the 4AGE dizzy, run map, delco TPS would be an interesting graft onto a 4AGE t/b, ditch the IAC valve, run the water temp and MAT sensors from the delco, and you're pretty much well hosed.

My little bro is running a 4AG in his sprinter, running a Delco.
Kalmaker might be a cheaper way of doing it, better way is Dick. No grafting guts etc. Get the JE Camira wiring loom & sensors, transfer them to 4AG, take it to Dick, 3 days later you'll have a PROPERLY tuned car (not just a pre made chip - every car is differnt)
It has been done, and can be done. PM me if you want Dick's details. He loves toyota engines.

Dick?
whats the difference between kalmaker and dick? kalmaker is not a prewritten chip, its custom on the dyno isnt it? maybe the base maps are prewritten but thats it I think.
you would have to graft all the sensors to the 4ag to get it to work wouldnt you?

um, yer, the kalmaker is a 1227808 which is modded, and, has the ability to re-write the memcal.
never heard of "dick"
um, all the sensors do have to be grafted onto the 4AGE, yes. a bit of work but not too hard, face it, mat sensor, temp sensor, TPS, and dizzy..

Dick is a legend, anyone that knows him will tell you. He's got a '72 Corolla with a 3TGTEU in it, running without a waste gate and the turbo maxes out at about 24 psi. The engine has stock internals, he's never opened the rocker cover! But because he tunes cares properly he can run the standard engine.
He gets a few cars from the commodore tuners like HRT (I think its HRT, the one over near milperra) and when he tunes them AFTER they have given it back to the customer, he'll get more power out of them not to quote figures around 10-15 kW more.
If your going Delco, you can't go to anyone else. Dick is going to tune my 1UZ.

Talked to him on the weekend, he wanted to play with some more 4AG engines.
What we can do, if you want him to do it. If you plug all the delco in etc. properly, then he can supply a chip that should be close, that'll get you to sydney. wait 2 or 3 days and spend about a grand and you'll have it tuned.
OK so reading over it again it sounds like a long way round. If you want to get Dick to do it, let me know.

Dick has a dyno but doesn't use it, works better on trips on the street (he's the expert, he should know)
Dick is running a 3TGTEU on 24psi with stock internals, running Delco. My OLDER brother has the same engine in his KE20 running Delco.
