Hi,
The idle thing (jumping from 1500 to 1000 and back all the time) is most likely your throttle position sensor. A bit of sideways play that develops from wear in the throttle body guts the tps and causes your erratic idle. To check for the wear, open the throttle 10 degrees and move the butterfly side to side. You could replace the tps, but the problem will return soon enough. I suggest replacing the whole throttle body.
Cheers, Daniel

Quote: | * Not holding idle- slowly raising to 1500rpm then quickly dropping back to 1000rpm
|
most likely you have a vacume leak somewhere or a blocked cold start solenoid
Quote: | * 4AC fuel lines not changed
|
you dont need to change the lines, the 4AC ones will be fine as long as the rubber sectoins have been converted to EFI hose with the approriate clamps
Quote: | * Not sure if TVIS is kicking
|
check the solenoid is wired up and the vacume lines are connected to the vacume tank
Quote: | * Alot of vacuum lines not connected to anything
|
yeah well theres your idle problem

Yeah, I gathered as much, so my next question would be does anyone have a vacuum diagram to suit an early 4AGE in RWD guise?

White86 -
When you speak of throttle body wear - it sounds like you mean play in the butterfly shaft, rather than the body itself? Not sure about car T/B's, but from rebuilding yamaha kart engines, typically the bore only wears out if the butterfly is installed backwards (kart ones have tapered edges to seal properly against the bore when throttle is closed), and the reversed taper edge wears away the bore. If this is what you mean, then I'd imagine you can get T/B rebuild kits which include butterly/ shaft/ spring/ bush? (but perhaps these are different between rwd & fwd throttle bodies? - I really don't know?)
Having said that, kart engines clock bugger all hrs compared to a daily driven car, so perhaps my comparison isn't valid anyhow -I suppose the shaft bores flog out eventually.
Loki Boy-
I am experiencing exactly same problems - it's like you are describing my car. Have you checked the igition timing by the way? Mine has an additional issue where it won't idle below an "indicated" 25 deg btd, and it runs rough all round. This is related to seperate issues though, not likely your car would do this aswell.
There are some truly disgraceful converter's around, you couldn't call them mechanics at all . I should have learned more about this motor before I bought a car - would have saved me alot of time & money if I had picked how shit the conversion was when I appraised the car..I would have left it well alone.
Good luck, if I get to the bottom of it before you i'll let you know.
