hey
i went to check out some imported motors for my corolla sx
i just want to buy the same engine and throw the old one out
is it this simple
the guy at the place said u have to chuck out a few of the jap things? and throw my bits and pieces in as it needs to run to my computer that i already have on the car i dont understand what he meant by that
but anyway all i want to know is what needs to be done if i throw in the same engine as i already have and use all my exisiting wiring etc
thanks

the engine may look the same but usually jap spec motors have different accessories like manifolds, alternators which will not be compatible 2 ur wiring.just swap em ova.

you may also need to retard the timming on the engine too, jap spec are setup for higher octane levels.
also what engine is it, did you want more power? also matters if its the same year/gen of the motor, they like to change little things along the way. it sound like you would probably have a 4AGE, with ECU etc. things too look at black top vs silver tops, etc, i wouldn't bother looking at the GZE they would be more of a headache then you would like.

this suggestion is good to keep it in mind, but u shouldnt have to do this, most guys doing conversions with jap engines have not run into trouble from this.
