"The engine capacity to be used for rotary engines is the displacement of all rotors x2"
As far as the RTA is concerned it's a 2600cc

Rules may vary from state to state regarding this conversion, contact your local authority or search their website.
This is supposed to be a for sale thread, I merely posted the information so that a NSW resident did not purchase this car under the impression that they would be able to register/engineer this particular car.

hey an ae86 can get easily get engineered with a 13bt in, i wanted to put in a 13bt in my ke30 corolla which is 1.3l, but couldnt because of my corolla is standard only 1.3l, i could only put in a 12at of a 13b, if my was a 1.6l like an ae86 i would have no problem getting a 13bt engineered and thats not shifty either thats going by rta guidelines, but if your really consernd just get 12a stampings on the rotor housing and you dont work out rotor capacity by just doubling

Jeesh, so much bullshit floating around, get the rules and regs off the rta site, the required weight using their calculations and the real capacity for a 13B, 1308cc. It has to be exact, which in the case of a 12A is 1146cc for reference.
The required weight for a 13bt in nsw is 1046.5kg. Don't try and tell me i'm wrong, i've owned two rotaries now, this was a big concern of mine in wanting to do engine conversions, and for this reason i chose to follow the 12at path.

Commercial vehicles are classed differently, but in any case, there are dodgy engineers about, or it could be classed as an ICV. Or it could have been engineered before the current rules came in, which from memory was in 1994.
Sorry for creating so much crap and going so far off topic - i'll butt out now

on rotars in old school celicas.
i heard from some1 (cant remember ...off of here) apparently the us spec ones or something weighed 100-200kg more than here. (ie 1000-1100kg)
so if you can prove that both aus and US use the same chasis you could effectively raise the engine capacity allowed.
ie na 3.4l is biggest allowed in a ta22....maybe with this idea you could again legally fit a 4l 1uzfe...
just something to think about....
