Hi Guys,
Bit of a problem with my 87 supra overheating (mentioned in another post) and just to weed out which things might be causing it, I have purchased a cheapo temperature guage to double check if my guage is a dud (which I suspect it is). But I have run into a few problems while installing it.
It's not the actual installation that is a problem, I'm pretty sure I've sorted out which is the temperature sensor, but I found a few broken or corroded ones as well.
If anybody can help me identify what these are/do I would greatly appreciate it.

Now I'm pretty certain the yellow circle is the temperature sensor as it appears to be the only single wire connection.
The one above it (in red) - what is that one. I went to remove it and the whole damned thing popped off leaving two soldered bits of copper and it was all corroded and is now not overly soldered and my car now displays an engine problem light when I start it up. Please help me out...
The following photo I have no idea what that is. There was a hose attached to a plastic bit but that broke off so the hose is now disconnected.

So now I have all these broken bits and still no idea why the car overheats! Bummer...
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Cheers, Darcangel

The single wire one will be the temp sensor to operate the temp gauge , The one circled in red if it is a green sensor it will be the ECU temp sensor and if broken it will bring up the engine check light , Not sure of the other .

Hey,
Thanks for the reply and info on the green sensor - it is greatly appreciated. Was going to take the car to an auto-elec and have them take a look and the damned thing wont start now - right before christmas....I could cry lol....very frustrating!
Anybody else got any ideas on the other sensor?

i also need info on the unknown sensor in the second picture. Mine is ment to have a vacumn hose connected to it but has been blocked off and looks conpletely dead.
Another question that may be related is that my car floods when trying to start it..... Turns over for 6 seconds or so then starts with cloud of white smoke.

Hi there,
I ended up taking my mkIII to the auto-elec and he said it was some sort of charcoal filter - something to do with emissions and that you don't really need it. Mine also had a vaccuum hose attached to it and apparently it should have two hoses attached, but the auto-elec assures me that it isn't necessary.
Hope this helps, can't help you about the smoke though, maybe try posting it as a new topic under 'tech and conversions' or have a search through the forum, I'm sure someone has had it happen to them before.
Cheers, Darcangel
