TT Supra Question	Wed, 22 December 2004 23:50

Ok guys ! My friend is on the market for a RZ Supra.He has found 2 models.Both pretty much stock except for exhaust and rims.The first one is a 1993 model,black,65000km's asking $30,990.The next one is a 1994 from JapLink 42,000km's,black asking $39,990.The one at JapLink will go $37k but is the $6k difference worth it for a model 1 year up ? If anyone can tell me if there is any differences in the models or if they are the same. I cant join the Supra forums as the registration pic doesnt show up so I cant ask them. I don't think they went vvti or anything like that between the two years. I don't think there is many model-differences then. Maybe the gearbox is different (auto or manual? 5spd or 6spd?). But I'd reccomend getting the one in the best condition, for the best price. [Report message to a moderator]

Series 2 update occured on the 5/96 and included updated head & tail lights, side indicators on the front guards moved to the side of the front bumper and the rear bumper had 2 side parkers/reflector lights placed on the side corners. The doors had reflector lights on the inside edge, where the latch is. The 6 speed lost the B series diff (220mm ring gear) and was issued with the smaller A series (200mm ring gear). I believe the series 2 LSD was a Torsen type 2, not a type 1, this change may have occured on the VVTi update though. The dash was slightly changed and the standard water temp/fuel gauges became a tri cluster design which included a boost gauge (non turbos got a volt meter). The shifter lever on the 6 speed was extended in length by around 1" compared to the Series 1. VVTi was introduced in 9/97 along with the V160 being updated to the V161 (slightly modified ratios) Go off the condition of the car, not the km's of the car. If possible try and find a JZA80 with the larger brakes (4 piston calipers up front, 2 piston at the rear), you won't regret it as these are chalk and cheese over the smaller 2 piston fronts/single piston rears.
