I wouldnt call it wank, id call them necessities. Even in old cars.
For central locking, just get a decent motor set, eg more than 4kgs, since its an old car. No more than 60-70 bux at the most.
No idea abt windows, sorry.
Cheers

How about power steering? Older cars can really do with that.
The only thing I call "wank-factor" is when people who have remote lock leave the annoying "beep-beep" on.
Look at me! I have remote lock! I'm special! Give me applause!
Is what is screamed across the carpark. Who cares? I have it too but I don't give a shit and leave it silent.
Sorry, rant over.

power windows is a mystical thing... hard to find nowadays and fvcking expensive! also a complete shit to install.
central locking is cool. the heavier motors aren't really necassary if you install them right, and make sure your movement is nicely lubricated (Whcih it should be!)
only problem old cars are things like euro cars where the locks just arent normal

I have central locking via remote on my ta22 and have the beep on because the bloody thing - you cant tell if its locked or unlocked without it - try openign the door while locked and BAM alarm goes off ..
instead mine has one quiet chirp for locked - two quiet chirps for unlocked ..
if people get pissed off at it well so be it , and the remote alarm activation is reallyt handy when you have little kids baging at the sides of it - or some old bastard sitting on your car while he talks to his mates - both have no respect and deserve to have the shit scared out of them ..

My car is dubbed the "microwave" cos of its remote locking... No chirp-chirp sounds for me, being the white(goods) car it is, it gives out long beeps like a microwave...

I used one of the cheapo $36 strathfield specials in my benz 190E. I spent more time taking the old set up than i did putting the new one in. No problems at all, except when I decided to make some "custom" door trims, and decided that the locks should go sideways, instead of the up and down door pins.

they got rid of them for the following reasons:
a/ they are very expensive
b/ people would return them saying "they didn't work" when they were completely retarded imbeciles trying to install a complex system into their car and failed.
c/ didnt sell all that well anyway
d/ not that universal...
power windows are VERY EXPENSIVE!!! be warned... and they are bastards to install unless you find ones that are specific to your car

i used to have central locking and power lifters in my car before it was repaired by my insurance company. the power modules went 'missing'. so now i have a crap alarm with no central locking or power lifters because they werent on my policy. i got rorted by thieves and KOed by the poeple looking my best interests. phuk...
i press the alarm sounding thingy instead of the silent so any would be amateur thieves know that my old bomb has an alarm and not so i look like a wanker. i dont mind the beepbeep.

I have two buttons:
YES I press the Arm button most of the time rather than Silent Arm.
Why? Cause when my alarm is in Silent Mode the shock sensor is ignored by the alarm system, which resulted in me not being alerted to two nice dents in my lower driver and rear right passenger door being put there by some inept fool who could not reverse out of a car space without wrecking up the place...
So now it usually stays on Arm, I can however disarm the alarm silently for those late nights...

I used to think electric mirrors where a wank but my mrs is short and sits on the steering wheel and adjusts the bloody mirrors just to reverse out of the driveway. Although I wouldn't put them on my Sprinter for an everyday car they are good. Now, electric seats, what a wank. Who hasn't got the energy to slide their seat forward. The reason why Jaycar got rid of electric window regulators is because they where crap. Put a bit of load on them and they just self-destructed. I bought a set and they where toys. You would all be surprised how easy it is to adapt electric motors to your original hand regulators. You all seem to be able to fit turbos the size of your spare wheel under the bonnet and your telling me electric windows are hard to fit. Give it a go!!

Be aware that power windows are a real bitch to fix when they break!! And very annoying if they break when the windows are down and it's raining. I'll stick with the old window winders any day!

I put a set of those wank race pedals in my Celica, but it didn't add the 10hp as stated on the packet. Maybe I mounted them incorrectly?
Now what wank products can I add to my daily driver Datto 79 280ZX. Considering it has electric windows and mirrors, air con, water sprayers for the front head lights and 3 interior lights factory fitted!

The only reason my alarm goes 'beep beep' sometimes (i hate that too) is that the Jaycar alarms - mine, anyway - are VERY easy to swap over from silent to beepbeep by acciedent. All you have to do is hold the button down a fraction too long when arming. It never seems as easy to swap it back, either.
DIY central locking can be cheap (jaycar for a 2 door is only $35-40 bucks, I think) but be prepared to muck about to get it to work. The doors on an ra6x are a pain, the first set I installed in my car last year had a very indirect action and I wore them out in a couple of months! Got them replaced under warranty, installed them directly on the lock menaism and have never had any problems since.

yeah guys.. thats a given.
if you install central locking... please remember to mount the motor parallel to the direction that the rod/lock mechanism moves, else it will eventually slip or break.
Yes thos jaycar power window kits were weak, but there are MUCH worse out there. Some of the guys at Gaycar have the kits installed (for a few years now) and still working, depends on the installation of course. (dont expect a little motor to move the windows of an RA23/28!!)
Autojoy?? is that the name of the store??? i always thought it was called "Riceboy Shop"? Well at least thats what i say to people when they come into Jaycar:
"Hey dude, have yo go those SIICK coloured interior lights, clear tailights, LED washers, etc etc??"
"Try the Riceboy Shop down the road" *me points in direction away from jaycar, maybe towards an Autojoy?*
"So you dont have those long neons that go all the way udner the car.. cos they make your car faster!"
"NO. Riceboy Shop. That way" *karl walks away*
NOTE: i will admit Jaycar has some Rice-products, but they aren't clip-on/bolt in/$500/etc etc.. they actaully require some handy work to be made rice. Eg... CCFL flouros, high brightness LED's etc etc actually require work to be made riceable.
