hey fellas
im currently building a GZE. its got some head work. 175mm pulley, FMIC, ecu.
i have heard that using NA 4age cams in the GZE gives extra lift without changing cam duration....is this true. the last think i want to do is put different cams in and have them smash the pistons with the valves.
im looking at bigport 4age cams. if anyone has done this with sucess can i please know and what the results were like...
thanks

4AGE Bigport, is this the same one that i took out of my AE93 SX ?? If so i might just use those cams, otherwise b1gb3n how much you want for yours ?
Do you have to change the ecu to use diff cams or not ?

Is it an AFM GZE or a MAP GZE? If it's MAP it has the same cams as your smallport GE from the SX, if it's AFM it has the same cams as a bigport GE, the only advantage is from going from smallport cams to bigport cams because they have slightly higher lift and duration.
100kw GE/MAP GZE cam profile for inlet/exhaust are:
232 duration with 7.1mm lift
86kw GE/AFM GZE cam profile for inlet/exhaust are:
240 duration with 7.56mm lift

it might give slightly more power.. but keep in mind.
4AGZE VS 4AGE cams are timed differently even though they are directly compatible to install.
Read over to the club4ag.com tech ref.
The hottest pair GZE's have been recommend to run at 264/7deg in/ex just like most other forced cars. Most 200sx's and other 4's ran under the 270 mark in duration. Its all about efficiency.

the big port cams with some other work done to the motor, definitly is a good idea..i would also recommend using a 4AGE throttle body, and dremel the down pipe out a touch to make it fit perfectly..the cams more than anything change the way the engine behaves, the big port cams seem to make it more willing to rev it tits off, where as the small port ones give it a nice creamy bottom end.. (there isn't that much difference, the difference also could be that now the head has got heaps of port work on it)
you should be able to tell just by looking at them..the bigport ones you want have a nice round lobe (hence different duration), and the small port ones you should be replacing in the ZE have a sharper lobe, if you rub you thumb over it you can really tell the difference..
**crude, but it saves you getting ripped off if you don't think there the right ones..just compare them to your smallport ones**

the AFM 4agze uses the 7.1mm lift cams. the early so called 'blue top' 4age has the 7.56mm lift cams.
