My 990cc 3 cylinder ran a 14 !

Hi guys,
Im bloody amazed at to how well this G200 charade goes. It was a carbi 3 cylinder that needed the whole M5 to hit 110km/h when I first got it. I decided to put a GTti 3 cylinder 990cc turbo motor which I had repaired. This was supposed to be a bit of a fun, cheap, run around car to get me around whilst Im building the Group A.
We did the conversion in a couple of days, put an exhaust and filter on it and we were suprised by how quick this little beater was at 10psi. We upped it to 14psi and decided to take it on a warm night to WSID just to see what it would do. You could imagine our faces when the board lit up 14.7 ! I was up against a modified V8 Senator and got him top end
990cc vs 5700cc
3 cyl vs 8 cyl
FWD vs RWD
The look on his face - priceless
Scary thing is its still basically standard. Mayby I should be using the GT3037S from the Group A on the Charade

No, I have no idea what it pulls at the wheels but would be curious to know. Considering its about 800kg Im going to pull a figure out of my ass of about 95kw at the wheels.

Probably a 15 comparing the improvements I have done over the old setup I could say an 11 sec pass is most likely.

I have a soft spot for those car too !
There was a first gen civic with a city pro motor that was bored out to 1.5 liters running a GT25(i think) that got a 12.9 that night. That thing was nuts! He later told me that his best time was a 12.6

ever thought about a different 3cyl; ....wait for it
THE SUZUKI HATCH
comes with standard 543cc or the optional 800cc
featuring a transmission of either a 4sp manual or a 2sp auto
the ports on it are small as, about 20mm diameter if i remember correctly
i reckon it would give ure charade a run 4 it's money

the suzuki gearbox is redicoulasly small but im not sure of what brand it is
they engines they come with are a 'throwaway motor' after theyhave done 150 000 k's they're goooowne
i have had a few suzuki hatch's but they are the slowest biggest piece of crap ever. they max out at like 110km/h while revvin their nut off
i have seen 1 of these converted to drag, called '4sum fun' or sumthin did flat 10's i think
i have also seen another version of the hatch, the mightboy with a dihatsu sirion motor in it. goes well apparently. i was actually thinking of chuckin a dihatsu 3cyl motor into a hatch.

i think these less than 1l engines are great for todays petrol prices, and better yet 14s on a 990cc turbo! die vl commodore

the suzuki 1.3 twin cam out of the gti is also a hard goer.
I had one with a chip, extractors and a filter in my crusty old 85 swift 2 door. I had no problem with a new holden v8s, or most silvias/ or standard skylines. up the mini motors!! and at 20 bucks for just over 400 kms with the revs usually over 6500, not too pricey either. Those newer charade motors are sweet too, nice time.

That would have been a sweet package and have been tryng to convince a friend to do the same to his swifty too.
I get 450k's out of 25 litres. I wish I could tell you what the revs are at but I dont have a tacho. I know what your thinking...... he ran a 14 without a monster tacho, incredible

Im not trying to downplay your achievement (cause that is awesome) but the standard GTti motors had about 75kW at the fly so with your mods you might now be seeing that at the wheels.
That equates to a power to weight ratio of about 10kgs:1kW
which is impressive
I used to drive around in a G11 turbo(carby) and that thing was a beast. I blew the headgasket a few times (mainly due to running 14psi all the time ) but for these engines its all such an easy fix.

mighty boys have the same engines as the suzuki hatches, either a 543cc or a 800cc. the dont have the 543cc engine on the auto box becoz it just doesnt push the car at all, it continuously kicks back to first then to second then to first etc etc etc.

yesterday there was a mighty boy that I passed lowered with mags 14inch dish, sports exhaust and moster tacho and woodgrain wheel with sports seats. I was like hmmm, next to the lights against him, old guy 50 or 60. It was the most gutless piece of shit I have ever seen, in good condition though. Think it still had the original 660cc motor as it had trouble keeping up with traffic. But the question has to be asked, why spend so much money doing up such a shithouse car

even the 540cc 2speed auto came with option of a/c. how funny is that.
wanted to put the daihatsu turbo into it for awhile. but not want to be a big job as its my drive to work car. anyone want to help as i have a spare shell.....
i cant wait to get another real car. like my celica.

Have you guys seen the WRX drivetrain implanted into a mighty-boy? Heller good power-weight ratio methinks! ! - more like a suzuki mightyboy grafted onto a WRX drivetrain really. . .
This is COMPLETELY unrelated, but I had a quick peek at the latest edition of MOTORSPORT mag before xmas - "When Turbos ruled the earth" - The 1.5L HART 4cyl turbo in Senna's Toleman F1 was designed/built/run on a shoestring budget, and cranked out 500hp at first, then 600+, but they couldn't keep it together with any more boost being crammed into it. Then they had the idea of casting the cylinder head and Block in one piece, eliminating the troublesome head gasket. I think they got at least another 100hp out of it straight away, which to me, is pretty impressive ! !
There's probably some knob out there thinking "so what, 750hp from an F1? Skyline GTRs make 1000hp with a stock crank." - Did I mention it's from 1.5L ? ? with a development budget probably not that much bigger than the big jap tuning houses that first started pulling big hp from godzillas. .
anyhoo . .

Toleman were also pretty much the shittiest f1 team too, the only races senna was able to win were in the wet, cos he had great skill and huge balls to carry extremely crazy speeds around corners, one of the true greats, but yes the engine are amazing but then again when it only needs to hold together for 250km anything is possible. Senna only drove for toleman cos at the time they offered him freedom unlike williams and mclaren, but soon he was lured to mclaren anyway.

well this one had a multitude of massive, massive random foglights aquired from wrecked cars, lucky for the drycellbattery and 300zx alternator
was capable of sending light signals to the moon
