ok I plan to fit a 1JZ-GTE into a TA23, but I plan to slightly work it, twin TO4's cutom manifolds and probably NOS in the end if it still isn't fast enough for somthing close to a low 11 sec.
What I wish to know is the internals of it, what items are forged or if the is a supercharged version with forged internals.
I just want to know the whole in's and outs of the motor.
even mesurments if posible and power ratings.
now don't get me wronge, I'm not just babbling this crap cause it's a twin turbo and ooohhh it goes fast, I'm dead set serious about doing this.

its good u have a TA23 cause your gonna need somewhere to weld the rack and pinion steering brackets, T series Xmember suits better than R series.

well thats cool that I've got the right car for a start.
I was planning to keep the old steering, but rebuild it with new bits, is there a need to go rack and pinion?.
Also thanks about clearing up the supercharger thing, but can anyone tell me about the engine it's self?
also with I need to moify the sump?

From memory you will need to go rack and pinion to make it fit in the first place.

twin t04's and a tube of Ky
You might need to budget for more like 15k if your gonna do the diff and stuff to match. And for 15k, i think i'd be spending that money on a 2J.

2j isn't legal in QLD, I can only go a maxium of 2.5L forced inducted, so therefore the reason for the 1J, can't anyone else tell me anything about the motor?

man a set of to4's is just silly
you can get a cressida running low 11's with a to4 bolted on a 1J...just a thought...
the internals will handle over 500hp in stock trim...but i don't belive i've heard of many going over 600hp

Great engines, very very smooth, power delivery is deceptive.. they feel slow, yet are flying. The twin turbos arent there to make it a big power rocket machine, their purpose is to make a small engine behave and feel like a larger engine, and they do it well. The 1JZ is built for smoothness and not power. Virtually no lag on stock turbos.
Howver, a played with 1JZ is an entirely different machine. Turbo's only good for 14 psi before they are likely to start to disintegrate. A 1JZ with 14 psi is a totally different performance to stock. Any more than that and you'll need intercooler, injectors (j-spec 2JZ injectors fit straight in), uprated turbos (i'm running hybrids) etc.

it may be wise to put the stock 1JZ in, upgraded driveline, brakes, wirirng and R/P steering before you do any mods to the engine. i predict after this is done u wont have much left over from 10K. and if u refer to the thread
http://www.toymods.org.au/msgboard/index.php?t=msg &goto=41602&rid=19&S=4d9de6c1353ddaa22 45e238db9aac92c
will give u an idea on what it costs to mod the 1JZ
also refer to some of twin pipe mod threads as celicamad usually posts "real world" prices for what it takes to mod a 1JZ

$10,000 will basically only get a stock 1j in the car .yes i have done this conversion(well 1/2 done). The diff is one of the biggest cost if you intend running 11's then you WILL spend $4,000 on a diff .
Twin to4 is a bit extreme it would be a big laggy pig .a single gt 3040 will get you into the 11 sec bracket with very litte lag .a single t04 could make 800 h.p
But you need at least Another $10,000 BEFORE YOU EVEN GET NEAR THIS .
Rack and pinion is not needed but better
Factory internals are good for 800h.p
14psi is a limit only for a bog stock 1j .With a decent dump pipe and a good exhaust 16-18 psi has been run for MANY kilometeres.Although i would not recommend over 16 psi unless you know what your doing

There's a couple of guys with ma70 supra's in the US that swapped in 1J's and are somewhere around 600rwhp. 1j's aren't that common in the US yet, but a few people are starting to put some money in them. The first 1J in the US was supposedly making 495 rwhp with stock twins and all HKS controls (264 cams, too). I am pretty sure that one of the ones making 600 is using the blitz turbos (kkk or something like that)
I'm still gonna run a 7M until the 1J prices come down in the US.
