Short accelerator cable

Hi guys,
On my GT4 the accelerator cable loops all the way around the engine bay before linking to the throttle body. Can an existing cable be shortened and if so what is the best method. If someone knows a place that does make made to measure cables that would be good too.
Wonder if there is a smaller toyota out there that the cable is interchangeable with?
Cheers

Yeah, they generally can be shortened. I've always done it by making a little brass piece on the lathe, cutting the cable and soldering the brass piece on in the right place. I generally start with a KE70 cable and shorten it to suit anything, but you can usually find a cable to do the job by scrounging other Toyotas at the wreckers.

most autoparts stores sell a universal accelerator cable that can be cut to length.

Thanks for the info. I will look into both options.

also, some axles have short cables for the handbrakes - you'd have to adapt the ends to suit but they tend to be thick cable, dust boots and adjusters at both ends.
