if its the standard car alarm (from factory) should be info int he owners manual.
If its anything like our Celica alarm then there should be a button inside the car near that red flashing light, If u push it, it will cycle thru different modes, one of ours is, no beeping.
Hope it helps some.
Cheers

On mine you just press the second button then the unlock/lock button and that mutes it.

It also wouldn't lock the doors if that's the case. Well that's the way it works with my 97 Camry.
Anyway, the procedure for disabling the horn chirp on arming and disarming is as follows:
1. Turn headlight switch to OFF
2. Cycle the ignition from OFF to ON three times (within 5 seconds), leaving it in the ON position. The security indicator on the dash will light contninuously for 5 seconds.
3. Press the horn within 5 seconds of the indicator illuminating. The blinkers will flash once to confirm success.
4. Turn ignition to OFF and give it a test.
To turn it back on you do the same thing again.
