Cressida MX63 mods...

I can get a MX6? cressida in actually very good condition quite cheaply, and I'm looking at messing with it to use as a cheapo "drift pig". Its very straight, rust free and extremely tidy inside, and mechanically pretty good.
I need to know a few things about them though.
-Its an auto, how hard to convert to manual? what other toyotas can donate parts, gearbox, crossmember etc - maybe a MA61 supra, or MZ20 soarer or something?
-How hard would a 5MGE, or even 7MGE conversion be? Should bolt straight up I guess onto the mounts right? but what about wiring, coolant hoses etc?
-Would I have any chance of finding some stiffer, lower springs for it aftermarket?

Manual tans isn't too hard
5M and 7M, I wouldn't really bother with either myself
Springs you can get, ask any decent suspension place, or get them made up for you

Why not use the 5M-GE, 6M or 7M-GE ? I would have thought they would be the simplest, cheapest conversions, and a substantial upgrade from the 5M-E ? I don't want to do a 1G-GZE/GTE as it seems to me to be the most messing about of them all, as well as NA engines often tend not to have had such a hard life.
Possibly a 1/2JZ-GE could be considered, but they're a bit pricey.
I'm glad there's springs out there.

Its just not worth the money putting an old motor in there.
The 2jzge would be a much better bang for buck conversion.

Yeah I've done a few things to my mx62, check out my sig...
manual stuff came mostly from a MA61 (clutch, flywheel, bellhousing, fork etc), clutch slave, master hard and soft clutch line, came from a SA63. Clutch pedal was a cut and welded ST141 (which I believe is the same as RA6X and MA61) and a little bit of a custom bracket... gearbox xmember was a custom job (welded on some steel plate and drilled holes...). also custom drive shaft (longer) was needed.
i'm on hols atm, and as such short on time! I'll get around to answering the rest of the questions later
Cheers
Wilbo

Use a 5,6 or 7MG if you want, it's just that many of them are buggered nowadays anyway, and they're not really a massive upgrade in power terms. 2JZGE would be a smarter choice if you want a low key, NA, cheaper etc. swap. I'm going to help a mate put one in an MX73 soon, the engine with ECU etc. only cost him $800.
