Idling Help 4 AGE

Hey Guys,
I have an 86 'Rolla with the 100kw 4 AGE engine. Car runs fairly well so far (bought recently) however when I start it, it idles at about 2500rpm when cold, then once up to temp, maintains an idle range of approx 1500rpm. Any suggestions as to why this is would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My 100kW also does this... Around 2500rpm at start up I imagine would be to assist with warming up the motor quicker but 1500rpm normal idle range I'm not sure about... That seems high... I think that they usually idle at around 800rpm... You may need to adjust the idle-up (???) screw to set the idle to the correct range... This is very easy to... You just need to find the screw and adjust it... You would need to have the car running at normal operating temp, turn the screw so the revs drop and check on the tacho what revs it's pulling... Then just turn the screw again, check the tacho and keep doing this until you get it at around 800rpm and that should do it... But after that, when the motor is cold, start it up and check what revs it's pulling at start-up... It may drop to around 2000rpm but should still be okay...
I'm pretty sure that a 4A-GE uses the idle adjusting screw but I'm not promising anything...
Can anyone back this up???

The high idle is normal when cold..
Ive seen neat and good kept condition 4AGE's
when you start it on a cold day it would start at anywhere between 2k-3k then drop down lower and lower.
about it idling at 1.5K.. mines doing that now if i have the ports open at the throttle body. if i close it by looping it.. it drops down to 900RPM. check the lines from the airbox to the tb.
yeah it does use the idle adjusting screw.
so play around with that
