hello
i have an AW11 4AGE
my mechanic said that there was something in the 4AGE that could be adjusted to make engine more lumpy/gruntier. Possibly the inlet valve attached to the something?????
sorry i dont know engines too well.
Does anyone know of any cool adjustments i could make to the 4AGE???

When i had the 4age in my aw11, after pulling it out i noticed that the tvis valve was disconnected... I really dont think it goes better with it disconnected.. Hence why it has big ports.. for up top there good but down low not enough velocity to make it worth while without tvis..
i wouldnt do it..
just put a GZE into it Rolling Eyes
Then you wont have to worry bout little old ge's anymore Razz

I agree - if the engine is stock, leave the TVIS alone.

Have you done this one yet?

Freak yes, really if you want to have fun in a aw11, a ze is the way to go.....
you can spend your money upgradeing and 'tweaking' your ge...
but in the long run it would be cheaper to do a complete ze conversion, which can be modded at a later date for even better performance.... Very Happy

best way to goet more hp out of an aw11 is to fit 100kw pistons, and extractors/exhaust. cheap hp! goes really, really well - we did this mod (along with fitting a 6 speed box too...)

Is that gain purely from the increase in compression? I assume you use the big port rods and swap at the gudgeon pin? Small port rods have bigger big ends and different crank right?

Also, what extractors do you recommend and about how much do you think you gain from this mod alone? I heard the RWD cast manifold is really good, but the FWD is not quite as good - is this why well made extractors are a good idea on the AW11? I'm looking for about 100 - 120kW and thinking about a set of cams first to get things moving. I have access to programmable management too.

will,

our aussie spec aw11's run the 7 rib block, so you jut swap the whole piston/rod assembly over (coincidentally i just happen to have a set for sale)

increase in c/r makes a big difference - supposedly rases the power output to approx 96kw.
factory header is not to bad at all, but we had some 20v extractors lying around, so they were modified to suit, along with a high-flow cat, and a truck muffler. system was 2.5" - which was actually a bit loud - 2" would be ideal.

with the afm & factory managememt you should be able to fit 272's and still get it to idle ok.

So AW11 = Big port with 7 rib block? You learn something every day. So that means the AW11 have the slightly heavier internals without the high compression pistons... hmm... I'll e-mail you about the pistons even though I'm not keen to pull the engine down yet.
