82.0mm head gasket on 81.5mm bore?	Mon, 03 January 2005 01:41

I've just had a 4AGE block bored and honed for new 81.5mm pistons. Is it going to be ok to use an 82.0mm head gasket on an 81.5mm bore? I can only find 82.0mm metal head gaskets (HKS 2mm thick), which I need to lower the compression for higher supercharger boost. Alternately, does anybody know where I can get a 2mm thick gasket for the 4AGE in 81.5mm? Any knowledgeable advice would be appreciated. [Report message to a moderator]

The 82mm gasket will be fine. While I have not built 4A's, it is better to have the gasket marginally O/S than to have it breach the cylinder and is more than likley why parts companies have not bothered with the intermediate size. [Report message to a moderator]

please tell me the 2mm gasket is not being used to drop the compression? are you still maintaining something like a 35thou squish clearance? [Report message to a moderator]

i used approx 2.6mm of head gasket/s to lower my 9.4:1 c/r for boost... oops. [Report message to a moderator]
