Hi im 16 and I too will be doing up a RA28 soon. Personally I think that a 18rg is a good option for a replacement motor as thats what im going to put in mine. Just out of curiousity what colour are you going to paint it.

I will most likely be painting it a Metallic silver, similar to the original colour.

Are some variants of the 18RG Carby??? I just cant work EFI if i try so i wouldnt mind steering clear of running surge tanks and stuff like that.
Is it possible to just have an 18RG running on solex carbs??? but t hen what do i do for fuel and ignition if they are normally EFI???

The dial colours can be easy or difficult depending on the results you want. I have played with a few different methodsand currently have clear/tinted faces so they are kinda back lit. I am still not happy with them yet but at least I can see them at night. The next evolution will be silver with clear numbers hmmm sexy.
Oh and printing the numbers on plain copy paper and putting that in front of the gauge faces works but looks a bit ordinary in my opinion.

It may have been the template that I made, I can't remember who I gave it to to hoast.
Unless your really dodgy and cut a slit in the paper to slide over the needle, you have to remove the needle to change the face. This will affect the calibration but if you are careful to note where the needle sits before you take it off and put it back in teh same place, then you will get it pretty darn close. When you look at in the big scheme of things, we are all running non standard tyre sizes and have speedo's calibrated to +/-5% at best from the factory. Add to this that regardless of what your speedo said if the radar says you were over the limit, then you have to pay the fine.
Yep the new ones will be vinyl stickers on tinted perspex backings. Should look great when they are done.
