AE82 problems, please help!!!

Posting this for a mate, PLEASE HELP...
I own a 1988 Corolla SX AE82 model which has a problem of stalling when I pull up to traffic lights, etc. Several different mechanics don't have a clue and Im getting pretty pissed off with it. After driving around for 10-15 minutes the idle slow goes down from around 1000 rpm to about 600 rpm. After this, everytime I pull up to a set of traffic lights, a drive way or whatever & put the clutch in it stalls. It even happens when your reversing after its warmed up. This happens on occassions. It seemed to occur more often after I got rid of the factory air filter for a Rush O2 filter.
They've looked at the temperature and air flow sensors and also the idle system (manual/computer???) and maybe more but I cant remember.
Any help will do as summers coming and the days are getting hotter and it gets worse and annoying to drive.
Thanks.

AE82's and AE92's have the problem of low reving when the radiator is not totally full to the brim... Something happens when there is air sitting in the top of the radiator (Inside of course)... It just doesn't like it for some reason...
