my brother once used a company called "SMB tansport" they were the cheapest about $330 depot to depot.

just fly down and drive it back. you could do it in a day for about 300 bucks (including ticket, food and fuel) It's a pretty good drive up the coast as well.

sounds like we are in the same boat....
i have a car in brisbane that needs transport to newcastle..
do you have a car that can tow a car trailer ? as my car is unrego'd.
hire a car trailer (ill split costs) tow it down here.. Newcastle. get your car from sydney and tow it back. down in one day back the next ill even give you a place to crash and a free feed whilst your here ?

then putting it on the boat and driving it down to hobart.
