Hey Guys, I need to get my aircon welded up, it needs to be tig welded, anyone know what the hell im on about? All i know, is the pipes from the original compressor, needs to be connected to something...or is it something needs to be connected to the 1J comp? Anyways, if someone knows what Im on about, do you have a rough idea how much this would cost?

I'll ask my Dad tonight. He runs his own fitting/turning/toolmaking business and has a tig welder there.

you will probably find most places will just replace the part rather then weld it. we find at work that in most cases it works out cheaper and more safe to just replace the parts. go to a radiator shop. most of them can tig weld.

I know a little about welding and own a TIG myself but its more in the skill level than having the welder.I had to look far and wide to get a guy to alter some very small diamater alloy pipes on my air con.He was a boat repair shop dude. They get used to working with crappy, thin and perished alloys. Good Luck.Pete

He charged me $50 for what i imagine was 30 min work and when i hooked it up and put gas in it there was a pin hole so took it back and he fixed it on the spot.
The people doing the air con gassing suggested i put a dye [colour which shows with UV light] as an aid to track leaks if you are expecting them.I was as i had altered a few things but all was well in the end [no leaks]
An aid to checking pipes for pin holes etc, preferably before leaving the welder's premises is a good close look with the aid of a torch.could save time and grief. Cheers.Pete.
