A resonator basically helps to reduce emissions and noise... But your final exhaust note is decided by the size and type of the rear muffler and tip...

It's a small straight-through Muffler. I think it's called a resonator because they work best a certain resonant frequency, determined by the size, design and damping material packed around the perforated through-pipe.

Im thinking a resonator helps reduce that aweful droning noise at certain frequency. Factory cars have them.

There are many factors to what your exhaust sounds like, inlet manifold, header/exhaust manifold, cc's, tuning, cams size, size of exhaust, type of mufler used.

Cheers

Steve

i was under hte impression a resonator was simply a hollow chamber. and expanded section, like a muffler, to allow the gas to expand and slow down.
