Search for an article by dorikin on a 4AGE into TA22. ZE will be identical just plus intercooler piping.
It'll be a bit of a big job, but it'll hammer.

There will be a bit of work involved - especially since the 'ZE was only ever released as a transversely mounted engine. You might want to try finding some parts from an ae86 4age to make it easier.
That said it cant be much more work or expense than rebuilding a 2/3t hybrid and it will certainly have enough power to tear the T series a new one

The TA22 is the first series celica isnt it?
If so ive seen a few with 4AGZE engines and they crank pretty hard.

4agze's are becomeing VERY expensive!! I dont think its worth buying a front cut or even the motor from importers any more when you compare the price to say, a 1JZ-GTE!!!
if you want the forced 4ag, its really easy. Buy a 100kW 4age, then go to Toyota and ask for some 4A-GZE pistons from an AE101 GT-Z ($400 - forged!!) install them and you have a 4agze block.
Now bolt on the turbo of your choice, get some nice aftermarket engine management and be VERY happy that you spent waaay less.

I looked around some half/cut import places and found out that I can get a 20v 4age for around 1600 bux with wiring and suspension, brakes etc.....Or 700 for the engine alone..... Apparently, as i was told, that the air intake needs modding, and the extractors need to be configured for rwd.
the 1jz gte would be very nice, and i know it is probably similar in price....but keep in mind A) insurance for a 21yr old B) rego on a 6cyl in QLD and C) too young to die just yet. Would be kick ass though.
So i have decided to start saving for the 20v....unless other people have suggestions.... Reason again is that i saw in a magazine that an MR2 with 4AGZE did the 1/4 in 12s.....20v 4 AGTE.....in 74 celica is looking quick enough without being front heavy, a fuel pig or hanging too far over the wheels to cause understeer. My thoughts anyway.
Let me know further suggestions.
Crok.

the 20v on its own is a pretty poor motor IMHO - no torque, and nothing near the quoted power output from toyota.
i wouldnt bother with the 20V honestly. You will get just about the same results from a smallport 16V 4A-GE, for probably less $$ outlay because you dont have to modify all the water outlets and more importantly the dissy.
i only mentioned the 1JZ as a price comparison - fitting that in a TA22 is, well, tight.
