Buying a car from the auctions Tue, 11 January 2005 01:11 Go to next message
Hey guys, any tips for buying a newish car? My fiance wants to buy a mazda 3 (preferrably) or corolla, and i've heard that you can get some killer deals at the auctions. Any advice or tips?

I got my 2002 Corolla at the dealers auctions in August 2003. I paid $15,000 when u couldn't get one second hand for under $18,000. No damage or anything. My tip is ask around family and friends for anyone with a dealers licence, go to the auctions with them, buy the car u want, the dealer usually asks $200-$400 fee (which is better then a $4,000 mark up) and you drive the car away Smile

Anyone here at toymods have a dealers license? I know that none of my family/friends will.

So are these dealers auctions not open to the public or something?

Thats right the dealer must bid on it for you, and he has to produce his licence etc. Bit of a bummer really, some nice cars go through though
