Hi,
Toyota and Porsche haved worked together on other projects. One that comes to mind is the P51 gearbox that was used in the first gen GT Celicas. This gearbox was designed by Porsche.

Also Porsche production lines , especially the special order system for optioned cars was worked out by Toyotas head parts man back in the mid to late 80's . If to there might have not been Porsche today since there where in such financial trouble at that time . So i guess there do owe Toyota . But Porsche do lend themselves to working for other manufactures also , like the second series S coupes , there suspension was worked out by Porsche , and there did handle quite well {Might have been the expensive pilots which those cars came ith too}

OT, but is it coincidence they called the gearbox a P51 in the "mustang-back" celica?
