1JZ smoke/vapour on idle Wed, 12 January 2005 06:07 Go to next message
Hey guys , i recently bought a jza70 supra and have noticed sometimes after driving then stopping & idling for about 10 - 20 secs some white smoke / vapour comes out of the exhaust.. i'm gonna check the PCV valve tonight to see if this is the problem but what else could it be - valve stem seals?

i dont think its a turbo related problem because it doesnt blow smoke on boost. The car is also in need of a service & coolant flush , not sure if its related to the problem.

cheers for ya help

is it white smoke or steam, if it is solid white smoke it could be a aturbo issue, but steam could be a few things, like head gasket etc

hmmm im not sure , but id be more inclined to say it was steam than smoke .. it doesnt really smell like burning oil either, it doesnt always do it though.. seems kinda intermittant. But fark - could be head gasket .. thats not good Sad

anyone else know what it could be?

Ahhhh yes , my power steering does have leaks and the resevoir is losing a bit of fluid ... how bad for the engine is it to leave it like this? and do you know how much it costs to get this problem fixed?

the sensor on power steering is same on most toyotas

7mge 7mgte maybe

corollas havbe them on the steering rack

or you can just plug up both hoses that goto the sensor on the pump
do not hook them together cause engine will idle up

i have one of these sensors if u cant find any

i rip them of some of the old engines when i wire the new ones up

they come in handy sometimes
