 NEED HELP URGENT!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, i own a 1974 celica which i purchased about a month ago. It currently has twin webbers on a 2T GEU engine. my feul economy was terrible, so i decided to put the original carbies on it. well now the problems started. The engine is a hybrid, its been bored to the max so webbers were the only way to get the fuel needed, consequently the head wouldnd fit the engine so a new one was needed to fit the larger cylinder size but not the engine. All i want to do is improve my fuel economy as going to uni is a big enough money drain. its been suggested that i put a later model EFI engine in there, however when i come to selling it in many years i dont want to lose its classic appeal. If any one knows a solution i would be more than grateful.

Put the Webers back on it - easier to get bits for them.
Take it to a dyno that specialises in Webers. Get it tuned.

 OOOww sounds like trouble.... But i agree with what he said put the webbers back on, tune it on dyno then see what they say coz they`ll tell ya what ya could do an what ya shouldnt do... so take it from there....

Get it tuned on a dyno for ECONOMY... Many places tune to around 12.5 AFR for max power... Not good for economy...
Tell them to tune to inbetween 14.7-15.4
That'll be way better for economy... And use very little throttle application...
It could be that way you drive... I drop 100KM on a tank just by driving a bit harsher...

Running the engine that lean will almost certainly result in detonation.... and bye-bye pistons.
