I'm aiming to head to Melbourne late Jan/early Feb to look at a car I'm thinking about buying.
I've been trying to figure out how to get it back if I do buy it.
1. drive down with a mate & drive 2 cars back.
2. fly/train/bus down & drive it back
3. drive down with car trailer & tow it back.
4. transport it back
Problems:
1. would be boring trip back & which car does the mate drive (the new one is a lot quicker than my current)
2. if I don't buy it for whatever reason, then I've got to get back to Sydney
3. I don't have a vehicle big enough to tow that weight home again.
4. expensive & trucking companies take little care.
I got quoted $270+gst from Sydney to Melbourne through a transport company. "S.M.B transport" (S.M.B=Sydney Melbourne Brisbane) the depot is in Silverwater. and that was only a couple of months ago.
give them a call if you dont think you can stay awake for the drive.
The staying awake is no prob.
I drive to Brissie & Adelaide at least once a year, usually more, almost non stop.
I like the way you think Josh
Anyone for a road trip...
You'll need something reasonably quick as the car I'm looking at does a mid 13s 1/4 mile, & there ain't no way the Caldina is keeping up with that (except by cruising past at the petrol station )
