werid electric problem

Hey guys, been noticing this for a bit now no idea what it is though =\ was thinking it was the battery before, but replaced that so i am thinking it might be alternator anyways.
sometimes when the car is running (driving/idling/engine on basically) the charge light comes on and everything goes rather bright, dash and headlights are more noticable. and then i get this bad smell in the cabin, like bleach or maybe chlorine but yeah its rather not cool, not sure what that is either, might be wires burning =S
any guys on what it could be or how to solve this problem?

I'd pull out the old multi meter and see what the alternator is giving out with the lights on and off and compare it to factory specs. I'm not to sure but possibly your alternator is overcharging and starting to fry your electrical system. Anybody feel free to correct me here.
