Corolla/Celica Project Sun, 16 January 2005 09:58 Go to next message
Hi there, just wanted to start a new project. I have a 1G-GTE motor, minus crank, rings and head.. but heaps of other bits like block, forged good pistons, coil, intake manifold, throttle body etc..

I have access to custom manifolds, intake and exhaust, and can buy a relatively cheap turbo and stock GSR intercooler.. so I want to turbo something.. really wild. I dont really want to outlay alot of money on buying a good motor, so buying an old piece of crap would be the way to go, then I can spend the money I do have on rebuilding the motor and putting it into a car. Either I wanted an old Celica or corolla.. it doesnt have to be a legal install with the turbo, but I want something thats 2L and high flowing and can handle a couple hundred horsepower and heaps of boost. Budget is about $3000 total on the rebuild and manifolds wont cost anything and turbo + i/cooler i can buy seperately. I think Ill have to add an ECU into that 3g price too. I have a few months, (3-4) in which I want to do this.

Can anyone please recommend an easy to find motor, preferably something that will come with a corolla/celica stock, that will be ok to rebuild and handle a nissan bb t03 turbo? The 1G parts are there, I have the block and a G labelled auto box too.. but getting a head/ecu and other parts is too much trouble.

Thanks
Nathan

i have a 18rgeu...already lowered compression and fully rebuilt. could do with oringing the block though ($120 i was quoted) comes with full efi setup and 440cc injecters boost. T04 turbo and external waste gate. Just needs the manifold built to mount the turbo. Aftermarket ecu also which is setup to start the car atm but needs tuning. lots and lots of spares for eveything and will fit a celica easily or a corola will a bit of modding but easy also. best option then is to just a buy a xt130 corona or earlier with a 18r already in it. get it registered in your name ( you can buy them registered for $500) and then just do a engine conversion with this engine. Pm me and we can talk if interested. http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&t h=56684&start=0&rid=2197&S=83fb6c021e8 4b98a00f611272dfe4a77
