defently, Riders On the Storm is a good song. I have the best of the doors (2CD's) defently one of the best cd's I have. I blame places like JB-hi-fi for me having so many CD's. I just can't help it. I have too go CD shopping every time I go to Brisbane. I wish we had places like that in Toowoomba.

I'll go with shane, river, 74gt, finney, and tyottsoarer for my rock bands.
For metal, I'll go pain of salvation ,dream theater, ayreon (Arjen Lucassen), bit of blind guardian, theater of tragedy is ok
and I gotta add porcupine tree to the rock section (well, progressive rock), and pink floyd if it wasn't mentioned.
I also have to add tori amos and elton john

It's nice and respectful to see that you make allowances for an old codger like me. But, some of those bands I mentioned are classics now - just like some old Toyotas.
Old music, old cars, old computers.... I just can't help myself.
Tho' I did hear Pennywise's version of "Men from Down Under" and I think it's great. Some of Tool's stuff is good also.
Tori Amos, she's okay. I like her better after she did that "gratuitous beaver shot" on one of her live performances.
When I'm in a somber and reflective mood I may even listen to a bit of Kate Bush or Abba or The Beatles.

Hi,
Yep, Credence are fantastic also. I shoulda put them on my list. The Kinks are great also.
Also "Sly and the Family Stone", and early Leon Russell. Velvet Underground were good - which brings me to Lou Reed - another great artist.
Concrete Blonde is good - especailly Napolatina (or whetever her name was) - the dykey looking chick who sung and played bass. I love electric-bass playing chicks.
And The Buggles!!!! Their song, "Video Killed the Radio Star" was the first music-video clip that was played on MTV when it went live.
Ahhh.. I just wanna paint flowers and stuff now....

I tend to lean more toward prog metal. death/thras/crap metal isn't really my thing... too simplistic and monotonous (especially live, where most singers are craptastic).
Flesh mechanic are a perfect example of crap. Went to see Opeth at metro a while ago. Alchemist started and played a near flawless set. Flesh mechanic were so bad I left - screeching and death grunts. (and opeth of course were amazing)

Thrash metal...simplistic and monotonous???? Thrash metal is the complete opposite of that...I think you should listen to sum Children of Bodom if you havn't, also cradle of filth. And i HATE how people judge the music on the screaming, if you read some of the lyrics you would understand why there screaming. Its not just about bein loud and boganish

I've read a lot of the lyrics, and they're good stuff. there's screaming/grunting where you can understand what's being said, and then there's painful noise - I don't like the latter. Opeth has a lot of metal growling, but you can understand the words through it.
I actually quite like children of bodom, and COF have a few good songs - always a bit too "teeny metal head/goth" for me (no offence)

Sepultura. No doubts about it. (altho I dont own anything after Roots for good reasons of course)
Ive got so many Sepultura CD's, ive lost count of them. Shit ive even got a Tribute album and a bootleg from 91. All I need is the first two LP's and Ive got everything (bar the singles, im not that much of a fan )
Anyway, I really dislike the new 'thrash' metal such as Children Of bodom, Cradle, at the gates etc. I find them rather pathetic and whiney. But one band ive been enjoying of late is Nightwish and the album Once.
Also a bit of Carcass, Testament, Blind Guarden, Shaman, Stravarius and Obituary always go down well with me
