Save yourself the headache and engineering dramas, and keep the door.

keep the damn door. This celica shell I'm painting had the door welded up before I got it and it's the biggest pain in the ass.

Spend the time making a new dump pipe or something.

Tim.

Once you engineer it, it would be.

I think it would be a stupid idea!!!

i have just done this..... and think i should be the only one...

it looks really good....

but you have to think bout how you are going to do the filler between the lights.

where abouts you are going to run the filler pipe?

etc.

Cheers
Stew

welded the fuel filler over.

cut out the indent section from the centre piece between the lights.

filled the cut out with a piece cut from a second centre panel so now the whole panel is flat.

fitted an after market race style filler complete with unleaded neck.

cut hole through inside metal panel of boot.

removed the centre bracing that supports the lock mechanism (it is in the way where the filler pipe goes through).

Made a new brace for rear panel that is square shaped and goes around the hole for the filler pipe but still supports the lock.

we are now in the process of fitting the pipe from the filler to the tank.... this will require some custom interior work - which was going to be done any way.

but as you can see the is a fair bit of work.....

i am very happy with how it has come up though.

Cheers
Stew
