EOI: Jan 1996 CT190 Toyota Caldina wagon (now with the possibility of a 3S, for extra) Sun, 16 January 2005 21:41 Go to next message
As some of you may know, I'm looking at buying a hotted up Subaru Leone to use as a toy (and before you rib me too much, if you can sell me an 87 GT4 with 50:50 front/rear torque split & sub 14s 1/4 mile capability for $5k, then I'll change my mind).

With this, there is the possibilty of me selling the Caldina as there probably is not much point in me having 3 registered vehicles for my own use.

At this stage I'm only gauging interest & the price would depend on what parts stay on, but is currently insured for $16 500.

More pics & specs can be found by following the links in my signature, but a general list is:

1996 Caldina FZ

Koni adjustable inserts (@ 80 000km)
Rear disc brake conversion (Celica ST184)
ABS
dual airbags
remote central locking
immobiliser
electric windows
electric mirrors
air con
power steer
Whiteline adjustable rear sway bar
2.5" exhaust from turbo dump with 1 tiny (length) straight through muffler & 4" dumpy
uprated ST184 Celica clutch (@ 90 000km)
140 000km
rego until Nov 05

5 spd manual front wheel drive

2.0L SOHC turbo diesel (yes I know, but it isn't all that slow)
sub 7L/100km highway economy (850+ km to 60L tank)
approx 8L/100km city economy (approx 700km per tank)
serviced regularly (oil every 5 000km, oil & air filters every 10 000km, fuel filter every 20 000km)
timing belt changed at 100 000km

the coil springs are stuffed, & will be replaced with standard springs prior to sale.
There is still some residual damage from last year, but will be fixing this shortly.

the list of things that may not/will not be for sale (depending on whether someone offers me enough for them):

WRX front seats
17" rims
ST205 front brakes
twin headlight conversion (bolt in kit designed for this car, not a dodgy one off type thing)

A list of contacts to get parts from will also be supplied.

BTW, this car was first registered in Qld (stock though) so it should be no issue to get it re-registered there again if required (I can still quote the Qld rego number)

I don't think I made this quite clear in my first post.

Although its insured for $16.5k, the selling price minus the parts at the bottom with probably be closer to $13k or $14k, and will be negotiable (but what really isn't)

Its pretty much fully dependant on whether I get this other car.

I'm trying to organise a trip to Melbourne to inspect it.
Then it will depend on how much work is required to get it past a NSW blue slip (it has a bit of rust showing which I would get rid of first)

If it turns out the way I want, it'll be pretty much guanteed that I will be selling.
There were things I wanted to do to the Caldina, but its just proved too expensive or difficult to do.

Shhh, don't tell them that, they won't buy mine then... Laughing
It's a possibility, but they'll be a lot more expensive than this.

On a bright note, I've discovered that the fuel tank in my car is the same as the petrol versions (just minus the fuel pump).
Therefore, a 3S conversion should be as simple as changing the engine & gearbox (using existing mounts), tacho, and adding the EFI wiring into the car.

This was something that I thought was next to impossible before.

No, I never got the rear calipers. Was going buy them off Justen, but he needed them for the GT8 (not surprisingly)

I've done a bit of research into the conversion for this car.

For around an extra $5k, you could have a GenIV 3S-GTE with a Camry V6 gearbox & LSD.

Ready to really freak people out.

Want to win the most improved at our dyno days?
Go from around 60kW at the flywheel to 195kW... (that's 325% Shocked )

Wrong shape body for starters, & what am I going to do with all the left over bits?
I could get this engine & loom from NZ without all the extra bits. I can supply a contact for this if required.
