Hi Guys,
I wouldnt mind getting some feedback about last nights meeting for our Toyota visitors.
What did you think?
Do we feel it would be benificial for both Toyota & the club to persue a little more involved relationship with each other?
Suggestions, on what we would like to see from them in future, ie: getting techies in to talk to us etc etc.
And even what we may be able to do for them.

Gary,
it was awesome to see represntatives of toyota actually interested in what we do as a club, and wanting to be more active with people like us.
I myself would definitely like to see techie etc come down to some meetings.
Yes i think we should persue a more involved relationship with one another. It would definitely benefit us as far as exposure and recognition is concerned, and im sure Toyota would enjoy having true fans like us give input into what we would like to see on the market, and possibly to give advice of directions and what do to with these "Project Cars" like the hilux that they want to build. I think it would be GREAT if we got together with the guys at toyota and we all built a car together to promote Toyota to the younger market, and for us to get a name and credibilty with Toyota itself.
I say TOP WORK SON! I actually came from the meeting feeling we had acheived something other than the usual internal organisation.
Gary, your a dead set legend.

I'm very surprised. I would've thought Toyota would hate us... We want to modify their old cars rather than buy new ones!
Great to see though.
Awesome work Gary! You are a legend!

yes... a better relationship with toyota is definately something we'd love to see.
by having some support from within we would have a foot in the door but there is still alot of work in getting official support from the head office.
regardless, the first steps have been taken and we'll be arranging further meetings so we can look out how we both can benefit each other and to look at how we can start changing toyota australia's attitude to our club and the sports market.
thanks gary for the introductions and we hope to announce more on this soon.

C'mon guys, there were atleast 20-25 people at the meeting. Surely you have an opinion.
Are you telling me that you guys are capable of crapping on about nothing in other threads and this one that has to do with the possibility of helping the club youve got nothing to say or suggest.
Lets get it together. 5 replies is pretty lame.
Even if you werent at the meeting, surely you still have an opinion.

well, i think its good
however, im a little confused as to what they hope to achieve ??
i mean is the club supposed to act as a market feedback group on new product developments?? and if so, didnt he make it pretty clear that australia has sfa infulence on a) product development and b) choice of imported product anyway?? so where's the purpose?? hes going to build his own toyota special vehicles behind japans back??
i dont get what he want to do with the hilux either! i mean great PR vehicle for boosting image in certain market demographics, and getting floor space at shows for product launches etc, but in terms of proper performance product dvelopment, future spec trends, and inporting spec proposals... i simply dont get it !! am i missing something??
i dont see that toymods is exactly the forum for him to gauge ideas on subwoffer size or the best neon to light the undercarriage. he was perplexed by a good proportion of tech 'whinges' and re-iterated continually that performance spec was 'out of our hands'.
honestly, i see that guy, as nice as he was, as a kid with a dream to do something different (which is great) but is ultimately going to be a dead end and tottaly ineffective in long term product evolution.
and i ask again, wtf has toymods got to do with any of that?
HOWEVER: if the club get an ex demo track car out of it, who cares!! "its a fully sick sub bro, and i loves them neons hey habbib... whats youse selling there, ill buy it".....
cheers

Like I said on the night, it's good to hear that Toyota is interested in the younger part of the market, I was thinking they had totally forgotten us.
I agree the sports truck idea isn't right up our alley, but it still sounds like it has some merit. And if you wanted to make a tough new toyota, there's really not alot to choose from these days.
If they want input as to what they should be making & selling, then I say we are the best people to give it to them. The only way that Australia is going to see some of Toyota's better cars is to show Toyota Japan how badly we want them.
If we can organise some joint events with them that promote Toymods even better. The possibilites are very appealing.
I can only see a relationship with Toyota as being productive & advantageous to both of us.

I agree with Bigworm.
Any relationship is better than none at all!
In time, we may be able to steer them in the right direction. At least they're making the effort!
