Does anyone know if 2tg valves hit the pistons if it breaks a cam chain?
I have a hybrid and i have to check that pistons don't hit valves.
Iwant to put head on,no gasket and turn over engine to check clearances.
Is this possible or do i have to put all timming chains and cam gear on.[don't have old head gasket]like a mitsi if you have the cam belt off the valves hit the pistons, cam belt on and they miss the pistons.
Thanks,
Alan.

ie - is it a non interference head... as opposed to an
interferring one i suppose.

id like to know too. i know most hybrids need flycut
pistons so it would seem logical they do interfere.

also if you modify cams etc could it start to interfere
if it was a non interferring head originally?

if chain breaks... cam stops turning.. valves stop moving out of the way of pistons.. lol

whats this about def ahving clearance problems on hybrids?
Im about to drop a 2T-GE head on my 3T-GTE.
thought it was pretty much a direct bolt on?

And what if the cams are interfering with the pistons when the chain breaks?

Most chain-driven Toyota engines are interference, including the 2T-G. Most belt-driven engines are non-interference.

Should be o.k - any engine builder worth his wait in salt will check the clearances.

Also note - that the way that you are going (2T head on 3T GTE) is fine - but check it anyway. The problems come for the guys fitting 3T cranks into 2T using the stock 2T NA pistons.
