MX83 idle problem Mon, 17 January 2005 09:28 Go to next message
Something wierd happened with my car today. I have owned the car for a week with no problems. I disconnected the battery to change the steering wheel, when I reconnected the battery the car would start then stall straight away. I have managed to get the car to idle now by reving the motor up and down and taking it for a drive. When i restart the motor it nearly stalls again.

Any ideas?

Go and wriggle your post connections on the battery...
It sounds like you have a bad connection and it can't support the engine...

Wriggle wires, test again...

by removin battery u have reset the ecu

to recalibrate the idle motor on a toyota

u need to rev engine over say about 1400 rpm for about 4 to 5 mins

this will make the idle motr go all way out and all way in

and find its limits

just go for a 10 min drive down the highway this usually does it

unles sthe prob is somethyjing else
