Central locking/alarm fuse Mon, 17 January 2005 10:44 Go to next message
Does central locking (via a remote "blipper") have a fuse?

At the lextreme meet a few months ago, my alarm started going off, and no matter what I did the only way to stop it was to cut the siren (didn't have the little siren key with me). I've since re-attached the siren, but my blipper won't unlock the doors. And I can't turn the alarm on with the little siren key as it automatically goes off.

Would there be a fuse or a short somewhere?

Yeah they do, location depends on wether it's factory or not.

All the aftermarket ones I've installed had an inline fuse on the B+ to the control box. 10 or 15 amp or something. If you unlock or lock one of the front doors (or the drivers door at least) the rest should do the same. If they do it's not the fuse.

It could be a short on the line that tells the alarm that the car is turned on or the doors are open. That would reak havok on the system.

Tim.
