Help with my KE55 Mon, 17 January 2005 21:10 Go to next message
G'day everyone, hope y'all had a great christmas & nye.....

I hope someone can assist me: I have a stock ke55 that I'm doing up....I intend lowering it about 2", and fitting 15" wheels....

My question is, do I definately have to have wheel spacers?...

I wanted my wheel fitting to be simple!...I want to find nice, aftermarket, 5 spoke alloy wheels (15" x 6"), and just put them straight on....Some people have said it will be that easy, others have suggested it will be impossible without spacers (but spacers are illegal!)....

If worst comes to worst, then I'll just shout out to all you guys to see if anyone has nice alloys from a ke55 they want to sell!!....

Thanks for your help....

Lucas

Yep they are leaf at the rear - I dont know how, exactly, they do it, but they re-set the leaves or something...... Confused

My main concern is how easily I can fit some nice, aftermarket alloys....I hope I dont need spacers etc, and can just put them on....

You WILL NOT need spacers if you get legit aftermarket wheels.. They will most likely limit your selection of wheels though.

Proper aftermarket wheels are made at varying offsets, it's just a matter of finding the right offset. I had a set of Speedy 15" Hyper Fang's (http://www.speedywheels.com.au/images/zoom/hyper-f ang.htm) on my old KE30 Corolla (basically the same car). Didn't have spacers on them.

As a side note, I've currently got some rims off a Silvia on my KE55, the offset wasn't quite enough and the rims were rubbing on the struts, so I swapped them for a set off a XT130 Corona. Obviously the rear look a bit odd, they sit in more, but I'll live with it. Smile
