1G GTE 1st Gear Boosting Problem!

Ok boys I have a farking problem with my 1G boosting in first gear. When I go to plant my foot sometimes the car just cuts out for a sec, almost like is missing badly, so I chuck it in to second and every thing is fine. The car jolts and my engine light in the cabin goes on when it his this cut out. This only happens if I plant my foot in first gear, I have no other problems in any other gear. Can also happen if I hit a bump whilst boosting through first .
Has any one experienced any thing like this B4 because it’s really starting to shit me and I don’t have a clue what it is. Seems like missing but I am not sure.
If anyone could give me some advice I would be thankful.
Cheers

are you running stock boost? using a bleed valve?
its possible that if you are using a bleed valve or other ver basic form of boost controlling, that when you plant your foot in first you are getting a large boost spike above what the ECU is mapped to, and it thus cuts out (fuel cut?).
If its stock boost, then i dunno - could be any number of things.

My car does this in all gears, thats just because the turbo i have on it is to big for the stock ecu ect, and thus draws the afm door open to far and hence the ecu thinks i am running to much boost and cuts the fuel. That is of course if you are running a different turbo setup or higher boost will cause this.

yeah what fattony says is right there is no boost cut.. what people describe as boost cut is actually the afm maxing out!

Cheers for all the help , ill get it looked at next week. I am still using the stock turbo's and i can see no spike on the boost gauge so im still not sure what it is.
Thanks for the help.

Could also be a loose/damaged wire somewhere stuffing up the computer under accerations.

The best way to check if its the AFM maxing out is to take of the top black dust cover and look at your afm as you accelerate the motor. If this opens a fair way stationary you can bet that is your problem. As an indication as to what is to much, my afm opens most of the way to full under part throttle stationary. So you can imagine what happens when i add a little boost to the equation.

Are the 1ggte AFM that bad...i mean are they that much of a restriction?? Cause i got a set of blitz bag turbos and she cuts (what i thought is fuel cut) at about 17 psi. When i check the error code its code 34 i think ..but its overboost. Can anything be done about those old school AFM apart from going to a stand alone computer and dumping the AFM in the bin??? Just curious

Ahh i wanted that e-manage ..anyways tell me how you go with it cause i will be fitting one soon. Are you going to do it soon?? Also i don't think you can get rid of the AFM with e-manage since its a piggy back...If you do i would love to know how you did it and what it took..thanks

im gonna speak to my tuner on monday and see if there is a way of gutting the AFM and tricking the computer, if not then ill have to maybe find some other alternative
BLK1GGTE ill definitely let you know how it goes

The afm aint a restriction, ITS JUST POOO. BLK1GGTE your lucky you can get 17psi, i cant even get 3 with my gt30. The only way to fix it is but putting in bigger injectors and then tighenting up the afm. Though in my case and i am sure in other ppls cases that you will eventually reach the limit of tension that the spring can provide. To be honest i really wouldnt waste my time with a stock computer just becuase of the unstability of the nippon denso L-Jetronic afm, this would also take many hours of dyno time and perhaps even a piggy back ecu. Im just so glad i got a stand alone ecu ready and waiting to be hooked up again.

fattony you seem to have a fair amount of knowledge on the 1G afm, very soon my new turbos, fmic, exhaust etc etc is going on along with a bigger fuel pump and 7MGTE (440cc) injectors and an emanage computer, in your opinion is 250rwkw possible with that sort of fuel setup? or am i wasting my time with the piggyback?
