why would you want to supercharge that motor when there is the turbo version of it?

1. It would be different
2. Fuel efficency
3. I just like superchargers
i dont have anything against turbo's but i would prefer to supercharge it and also as part of my ta2 project i am attempting to not only be powerfull as a bitch but also very fuel efficiant so thems my reasons but tha doesn't mean i wouldn't go a tubo version but i would like to make a supercharged version
thanks for your interest

Points 1 and 3 are very valid reasons. But supercharging will rarely improve fuel efficiency if at all. If you supercharge a NA engine, you will usually have to drop compression a little if you want to run any sort of decent boost which will result in poorer economy when off boost (ie. when cruising which is a lot of the time in normal street driving) - even if you run an air bypass. Also, superchargers take power away from the engine to make the boost and this power consumption goes up proportional to the square of engine speed, so its going to suck a lot of power at high revs, even though the boost will give you more power overall... however, more fuel used once again. Correctly setup turbo's are more efficient, but even turbo setups can't guarantee better economy. You might make a gain with supercharging if a car had a massively undersized engine to begin with.
Sorry I can't add anything more positive, other than agreeing that it certainly would be unique and supercharging will probably give you more grunt off the line which is good for a street car.

Thanks for the info mate and when i said fuel efficency i didn't mean that the super would help it i just thought one would be more efficiant then a turbo

For a given power level, you will find that most likely the turbo will use less fuel than the supercharger, partly also because particularily a Rootes-type S/C will produce boost real low, like in normal driving.

If you want to go to the expense you can get a BEAMS 3SGE from an Altezza which is a RWD version, all the others though are FWD or 4WD (same anyway) as far as I know...

Not that difficult to convert to rwd - it has been covered on the forums a number of times.
